Waltham Forest Migrant Action (WFMA) is a small and vibrant local charity, providing support and showing solidarity with migrants and refugees at a time when their rights are being eroded.
We are recruiting for a number of voluntary trustee positions – could you be the person we are looking for?
We run a drop-in advice service once a week, which offers free immigration, welfare and housing advice to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in our borough. We also raise awareness about and campaign for migrants’ rights, speaking at local events and fundraising for our work.
We are looking for trustees who share our values and have the time and energy to help us build our charity.
We are keen to find someone with experience as a treasurer / bookkeeper, as well as people with skills in grant applications and human resources. But whether you are an experienced trustee or new to the role, we’d like to hear from you.
We are also especially interested in hearing from people with lived experience of migration/forced migration, as well as members of our local community from Black and minority ethnic backgrounds, who are currently under-represented on our board.
Trustees will receive:
- Trustee induction training;
- The opportunity to make a difference in your community and show solidarity with migrants and refugees;
- The chance to learn new skills and make strategic decisions;
- The opportunity to develop our small charity.
Time commitment:
- 6 trustee meetings a year (every two months);
- Ad-hoc committee work between meetings;
- Willingness to take on other responsibilities including funding bids, speaking on behalf of the charity at public events, planning fundraising events and supporting volunteers.
| How to apply: please send your CV and a letter or video outlining why you would like to join our board of trustees to [email protected]. |
