WFMA’s mission is to provide support and advice for local migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in Waltham Forest. We also advocate and campaign for the rights of migrants and refugees in the UK.
The Communications and Campaigns Manager will play an important role in raising awareness of the issues facing the communities we support through
communications with WFMA’s supporters, social media and the press, stakeholders and through wider campaigning and organising. The role also offers an exciting chance to collaborate with other organisations and frontline services in London and further afield on the relevant issues.
The Communications and Campaigns Manager will also recruit, train, motivate and coordinate the team of volunteers engaged in communications and campaigning.
WFMA runs a weekly Support Centre that provides a warm welcome to migrants, offering free welfare, housing and immigration advice and casework and signposting to other services such as emergency shelters and food banks. This post will not be working directly with the Support Centre, however, opportunities may arise to campaign around issues directly affecting those who visit us.
This new post holder will be line-managed by a designated trustee and will liaise with the other trustees to ensure consistency and appropriateness of messaging.
The post will be:
• 10 hours per week remotely, with the ability to work your contracted hours
flexibly.
• Duration: 12 months (with the possibility of another year subject to
funding);
• Salary: £31,745 pro rata (£8,580 per annum), funded by a grant from the City Bridge Foundation.
